Thirteen candidates, including Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia and former president John Dramani Mahama, have been accepted by Ghana’s electoral commission to run for president on December 7. A top official from the elections authority said this on Friday.

The commission also announced that Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen, a former trade and industry minister who quit the ruling party to run as an independent candidate, Nana Kwame Bediako, a businessman running for the top job for the first time, and Nana Akosua Frimpomaa, one of two women running, had all been accepted.
