Real Madrid’s Rodrygo is “disappointed” by his exclusion from the Ballon d’Or shortlist

Rodrygo, a Brazilian player, claimed that his adaptability may have resulted in him not being nominated for the Ballon d’Or award. The Real Madrid forward was not included in the shortlist of 30 candidates for the prestigious award.

Last season, the 23-year-old provided the club with nine assists and scored 17 goals in 51 appearances.

His Madrid teammates Vinicius Jr, Jude Bellingham, Dani Carvajal, Federico Valverde, Antonio Rudiger, and the now-retired Toni Kroos were all nominated.

Also included in the shortlist was Kylian Mbappe, who transferred from Paris St. Germain to Madrid during the offseason.

“I was displeased; I believe I was entitled to it,” Rodrygo stated to ESPN. No, I do not wish to diminish the athletes who are present; I believe they were also deserving of it.

“However, I believe that I was eligible for the 30 place.” It came as a surprise, but I am unable to take any action, as I am not the one who makes these decisions.

Rodrygo is predominantly a right-sided player, but he can also assume the role of a center forward or left-sided player. Coach Carlo Ancelotti frequently employs him as a second striker.

Rodrygo further stated, “Frequently, I am merely occupying vacant spaces.” “Is there an individual who is missing that location?” Place Rodrygo inside. Is there a person who is absent on the right? I am Rodrygo. Is anybody absent from the ninth position? I am Rodrygo. That is all.

“It may get in my way a little, but I’m a team player.”

On October 28, the award recipient will be officially declared at a ceremony in Paris.
