Rodriguez, a Colombian player, has joined Vallecano on a free transfer
The Spanish club Rayo Vallecano announced on Monday that Colombia captain James Rodriguez has returned to LaLiga for a second spell after signing with the club on a free transfer.
The 33-year-old, who appeared in 125 matches for LaLiga titans Real Madrid from 2014 to 2020, has joined Vallecano after departing Brazilian side Sao Paulo. The duration of the contract was not disclosed by Vallecano.
Rodriguez, who played for his nation 106 times, had an exceptional Copa America campaign. He scored one goal and provided six assists, which helped Colombia reach the final. He was also named the tournament’s Best Player.
In the final, Argentina defeated Colombia by a score of 1-0.
Next Tuesday, Vallecano will play host to Barcelona in LaLiga.
