Wydad Casablanca’s offer for Clement Mzize is rejected by Yanga

YOUNG Africans President Hersi Said has confirmed that the club declined an offer from Wydad Casablanca for their star striker, Clement Mzize, during the off-season. This decision underscores the player’s significance to the club’s ongoing initiative.

Under the guidance of coach Hemed Suleiman, Mzize (pictured) has been indispensable for both the Young Africans and the Tanzania national team. As the top scorer in the Federation Cup last season, he scored five goals. His exceptional performances have firmly established his status as a critical player, demonstrating his goal-scoring prowess and adaptability along the flanks.

Wydad Casablanca initially placed an offer of $100,000 for the 20-year-old striker, with reports suggesting that they were prepared to raise their offer to $400,000. Mzize’s importance to the club’s future aspirations was underscored by Young Africans’ decision to retain him.

While the Jangwani-based Wydad Casablanca team was in South Africa for a pre-season match against TS Galaxy, President Said disclosed that Wydad Casablanca head coach Rulani Mokwena personally addressed him regarding Mzize’s prospective transfer.

Over the next two seasons, the club anticipates that Mzize’s value will experience a substantial increase, potentially reaching $1,000,000.

The current Tanzania national team member, Mzize, has the potential to become Tanzania’s talisman at the 2027 AFCON, as Said expressed confidence in his development. His advancement is apparent on a daily basis, as we are committed to refining his abilities.

“When he eventually transfers to another team, we as a club desire him to be prepared to immediately enter the starting lineup.” This is the type of advancement we anticipate from him, as he has recently scored in consecutive games.

“We have also received offers for other players; however, we are unable to operate as a selling club. We are committed to competing in Africa, which is why we are unable to allow our athletes to depart while we are busy with a project,” Said continued.

Mzize has been a valuable member of the senior team for three seasons, having obtained his skills at the Young Africans junior academy. Coach Nasreddine Nabi was the first to introduce him to the first team, and he immediately recognised his potential.

Mzize has furthered his impressive performance this season by scoring twice in three matches. This includes a critical goal against Azam FC in the Community Shield final and another against Vital’O FC in the CAF Champions League preliminary round.
