The Miseducation Anniversary Tour is being quietly canceled by Lauryn Hill and the Fugees: Report
The tour was scheduled to begin on August 9.
It appears that live celebrations of The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill’s anniversary will have to wait a bit longer for music lovers.
The “Ex Factor” singer was scheduled to reunite with Wyclef Jean and Pras Michel for her co-headlining extension of the Miseducation Anniversary tour, but Ms. Lauryn Hill and the Fugees have discreetly canceled it, according to Variety. The tour was scheduled to begin on August 9.
The site claims that on August 6, Live Nation sent texts to ticket holders informing them that their show had been canceled. Your account will shortly receive a refund.
The cancellation’s cause has not yet been disclosed. PEOPLE’s request for comments was not answered by representatives for Live Nation or the band.
Due to vocal problems, the 49-year-old “Ready or Not” vocalist had to postpone the tour in November 2023.
The Fugees will embark on a 21-date tour in June, with music from The Miseducation of Ms. Lauryn Hill, The Score, and other artists. Hill revealed the announcement on Instagram.
“The Celebration Continues…” was the caption she used with a tour poster.
The performances were scheduled to begin in Tampa, Florida on August 9. The performers were scheduled to appear in key American cities as well as in London, Paris, and Amsterdam abroad.
At each concert, Hill’s son YG Marley was scheduled to make an appearance as a special guest; further special guests were to be revealed later.
The “Doo Wop” singer wrote a long Instagram post detailing her health situation after announcing in November that the remaining dates of her 25th anniversary tour will be postponed due to vocal problems.
“I’d like to start this off by saying how much I’ve enjoyed being on the road, and how much I appreciate all of the fans who have come out to celebrate this incredible milestone anniversary and history making reunion with us,” Hill stated in a statement. “Being able to tour this album to sold out crowds after 25 years has been an emotional experience!”
“I’ve loved sharing the stage again with Wyclef and Pras,” she went on. Those who have seen the Return of the Fugees attest to its strength and remarkable nature.”
Hill continued by outlining her treatment plan for her “serious vocal strain.”
“I made it through each show by taking prescribed prednisone, but this can be detrimental to the body when taken in large amounts over long periods of time,” she stated. “In order to prevent any long term negative affect on my voice and my body, I need to take time off to allow for real vocal recovery so that I can discontinue the medication completely.”
