Norwegian striker Sorloth is signed by Atletico Madrid
Alexander Sorloth, a striker, has joined Atletico Madrid from Villarreal, a fellow La Liga team, on a four-year contract, the two teams announced on Saturday.
The 28-year-old Norway international netted 26 goals for Villarreal in the previous campaign in all competitions, 23 of which came in La Liga.
With that, he was ranked second in the league scoring rankings, only behind Artem Dovbyk of Girona, who recently joined AS Roma.
Although the transfer cost was not made public, Spanish media outlets said it was about 32 million euros ($34.9 million).
Diego Simeone, the manager of Atletico Madrid, had been searching for a center striker ever since captain Alvaro Morata left for AC Milan last month.
One dollar is equal to 0.9168 euros.
