Peter Macon, a Hollywood actor, will mentor Kenyan performers in a film masterclass

Actors in Kenya will have the opportunity to meet Hollywood icon Peter Macon when he travels to the country in September of this year.

The “Kingdom of the Planet of Apes” actor is coming to Kenya to teach a masterclass in theater and film, hosted by YORA.

“Kingdom of the Planet of Apes,” a highly anticipated science fiction movie that debuted in May of this year and has already brought in $396 million at the box office, stars the Emmy Award winner as Raka.Having worked as a professional actor for the previous thirty-five years, Macon claims that his experience has taught him to approach his vocation with pragmatism as he gets ready to make his second trip back to Africa.

It is, in my opinion, a positive thing that I have learned to expect the unexpected. Being called up for roles you never know exactly what kind they will be is a pleasant surprise, albeit it can be a little unsettling. He explains, “I think it’s kind of just part of my story and my journey.”

It is also anticipated that Macon, who emphasizes that his career in Hollywood hasn’t been simple, will discuss what it takes to get into the industry during his lecture in Nairobi.

The actor acknowledged having a “spurt of downtime” in his career up until three years ago.

In a recent interview, the actor who rose to fame on Fox’s science fiction series “The Orville” claimed to have gotten his stride in Hollywood, but he quickly acknowledged that it had taken him some time to discover it. For example, the commanding Macon was not interested in commercials, which disclosed that he had been turned down 195 times throughout the audition process.

According to him, “you kind of got to listen after being told no 195 times.”

Macon’s narration of the episode “John Henry, The Steel Driving Man” earned him a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Voice-Over in 2002.
