Jelly Roll talks about how he shed 70 pounds and how much more he wants to drop

Star of country music Jelly Roll, who is getting ready to embark on a national tour in August, is sharing details of his health change.

The musician, 39, told People magazine that he has already shed about 70 pounds and that, with proper diet and exercise, he expects to shed an additional 100 pounds.

“I walk two to three kilometers every day, five days a week. Every day, I spend 20 to 30 minutes in the sauna and six minutes in the cold plunge. I’m currently eating healthily,” Jelly Roll said to People. “I feel really good.”

He went on, “I was thinking, I’m going to lose another 100, 100-plus [pounds].” Man, I can only think how great I’m going to feel when I go on tour if I feel this wonderful about losing weight.”

The “Beautifully Broken” tour by Jelly Roll begins in Salt Lake City on August 27 and concludes in Charlotte, North Carolina, on October 27.

Apart from preparing for the tour, Jelly Roll is also working out for a May 7 5K race at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California, which will be emceed by comedian and podcast hosts Bert Kreischer and Tom Segura.

The singer of “Need a Favor” announced on Instagram in January that he had started preparing for the 2 BEARS 5K.

“Love, I’ll be there. Every morning I go for a walk in the woods. 5K by May, darling. 5K by May,” the video featured Jelly Roll saying.

The musician has previously discussed his weight, saying in the “Jelly Roll: Save Me” documentary from ABC News Studios that he was told he was “too fat” to be successful in the music business.

In the documentary, Jelly Roll stated, “They say we were too fat to be in the music business, my voice wasn’t cool enough—these were all mountains that we had to conquer.”

Following more challenges with addiction, jail, and mental health issues, Jelly Roll is now a household name in country music.

He won three categories at the 2024 CMT Music Awards earlier this month: male video of the year, video of the year, and CMT performance of the year, which he had won the year before.
