NEC has been renamed, now called ‘Independent Electoral Commission’ – Tanzania
The director of Information Information Department and Chief Government Spokesman, Mobhare Matinyi has said the name of the Electoral Commission (NEC) will change on Friday April 12, 2024 to the Independent Electoral Commission.
In a statement issued yesterday in the social networks of the office, it said: “We would like to inform all the media that, following the Government announcement number 225 of March 29, 2024, the Independent National Electoral Commission Act number 2 of 2024, will officially come into force April 12, 2024.
“Thus, from April 12, 2024, the name of the Commission will change, and it will be the Independent National Electoral Commission or in English the Independent National Electoral Commission,” said the statement.
