Africa’s Youngest President Bassirou Diomaye Faye Sworn In
Bassirou Diomaye Faye, the fifth president of Senegal, was sworn in as president in a ceremony held in the capital, Dakar.
Earlier this month, 44-year-old Mr. Faye won a delayed election, with 54% of the vote, ahead of his main rival Amadou Ba.
On Friday, the country’s Constitutional Council confirmed Mr. Faye as the winner.
Heads of state from across the continent attended the swearing-in ceremony, including Bola Tinubu, president of Nigeria and chairman of the regional bloc, Ecowas.
