The master stroke up Raila Odinga’s sleeve over the years has proven to be the Handshake. He has faced off with four Kenyan Presidents and despite failing to clinch the presidency even in his fifth stab, the seasoned opposition leader has effectively maintained his political relevance on the national stage for over twenty-five years.
In each instance, he has emerged with gains, from aligning with Moi, forming a coalition government with Kibaki, a notable reconciliation with Uhuru and now President William Ruto.
