Liverpool's Mac Allister expresses deep disappointment over not receiving a new contract offer

Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister conveyed his disappointment on Tuesday after not receiving a new contract offer, stating that he had contemplated his transfer options as he addressed the media ahead of Wednesday's Champions League match against Atletico Madrid at Anfield.

The 27-year-old Argentina international, who has two years remaining on his current deal, stated that Liverpool had communicated to him that they could not provide new terms, in contrast to fellow midfielders Dominik Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch, who extended their contracts earlier this year.

I learned that the club was unable to extend a new contract to me, which, naturally, brings me a great deal of sadness," he shared with reporters.

Mac Allister decided to stay at Anfield after the arrival of former Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola, mentioning "something special" during pre-season.

Iraola noted that there was still time to negotiate, emphasizing his focus on performance rather than contracts.

Mac Allister stated that there were opportunities to depart during the close season, but he emphasized, "I believe I am currently at the right club and have the right mindset to give my all for this club.
