Zambian president has made a reappointment. Musokotwane will serve as the finance minister following the election

Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema has reappointed Situmbeko Musokotwane as finance minister following last month's election, as shown during a swearing-in ceremony for the new cabinet on the Southern African country's public broadcaster on Monday.

Musokotwane has held the position of finance minister in the copper-rich country since 2021.

During Hichilema's first term, he managed lengthy debt restructuring negotiations after Zambia became the first African country to default during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Zambia is working toward finalizing a new International Monetary Fund program by the end of the year.
