Beyoncé unveils the 20th Anniversary Deluxe Edition of ‘B’Day’

Beyoncé celebrates the 20th anniversary of ‘B’Day’ with remastered tracks, Spanish recordings, rare songs, and new collaborations.

Beyoncé has unveiled a deluxe edition of her sophomore album, "B'Day," in celebration of its 20th anniversary. This edition features remastered recordings, Spanish-language versions, rare material, and previously unheard songs.

Originally released on September 4, 2006, the expanded edition features 31 tracks, including new collaborations with Colombian singer Maluma and the late Mexican-American singer Selena Quintanilla.

The anniversary release includes “Can I Watch You,” produced by Beyoncé and Pharrell, as well as “Morning Dew (Donk),” “My First Time,” “Lost Yo Mind,” “Creole,” and “Back Up.”

Among the recent Spanish-language recordings is “Cuerpo (Tumbao) (Get Me Bodied)” featuring Maluma. The track incorporates elements from Celia Cruz’s “La Negra Tiene Tumbao” and signifies Beyoncé’s inaugural collaboration with the Colombian artist.

The album features “Irreemplazable (Como La Flor)” with previously released vocals by Selena Quintanilla. As stated in the release notes, the duet received approval from Selena’s estate.

Beyoncé has shared her thoughts on Selena’s impact on her Spanish-language music, reminiscing about listening to the late singer’s songs during her upbringing in Houston, Texas.


The reissue includes Spanish versions of “Listen,” “Beautiful Liar,” “Irreplaceable,” and “Get Me Bodied,” along with the previously released “Amor Gitano” featuring Alejandro Fernández.


In her reflections on the album's creation, Beyoncé expressed her desire for "B’Day" to embody a robust rhythmic sound while preserving the musical characteristics linked to R&B.

“I aimed for the album to be grand, rhythmic, intense, fast-paced, and full of energy, and it was essential for me to incorporate live instrumentation,” she stated.

“Hip-hop was on the rise during that period, yet I was striving to maintain the bridges, melodies, and harmonies that have consistently defined R&B.”

She mentioned her intention to blend hip-hop and R&B through sampling, citing “Irreplaceable” as an illustration of this method.

In addition to the remastered music, Beyoncé has enhanced the album’s visual content, with the videos being recolored and completed in 4K.

The anniversary project includes a new version of the “Déjà Vu” video, featuring her husband Jay-Z.
