Ford is recalling 223,472 vehicles in the U.S. because of leaky and improperly secured fuel tanks that could detach from the vehicle while driving, according to an announcement from the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on Saturday.
Here are additional details from the NHTSA advisory:
A detached tank can pose a road hazard, heightening the likelihood of a crash, while a fuel leak may lead to an engine stall or elevate the risk of a fire.
Certain F-150 vehicles from the 2023-2027 model years will be recalled due to this concern.
Dealers will examine and, if needed, replace the fuel tank straps at no cost.
