Boni Mwaitege pursues those who spread false information about his “fake death”
Reports of the death of well-known Tanzanian gospel singer Boni Mwaitege flooded social media for the better part of Monday, July 23.
Fans of Mwaitege were astonished and perplexed to learn that he was involved in a horrific car accident, according to several internet platforms.
Some held out hope that the rumors weren’t true, while others waited for word from his family.
The gifted gospel musician has addressed the untrue rumors and broken his silence in a timely update.
Mwaitege reassured his supporters in a video posted on the Tanzanian blog 5Star NewsTZ that he was safe and well and that the rumors were false.
“I’ve come out to talk to you regarding the current, widely circulated rumors. Although I’ve had people try to harm me and say untrue things about me, this one has made me say what I needed to. Death claims have compelled me to come out and talk, even though I have been ignoring the other things. I’m healthy and haven’t been in any accidents, and my brothers and sisters are watching me,” Mwaitege said.
He also asked his followers to assist in refuting the false information:
It’s a hoax, and I sincerely hope you can disseminate the word that I’m still here. I have not yet discovered the source of this misleading information. I’ve witnessed similar struggles faced by other gospel musicians. Regarding the matter, I will act. The government will take the next step. President Samia Suluhu has been notified, and her administration will address the issue.
The claim was refuted by his spouse as well.
She informed Millard Ayo that her husband had made it safely home from his trip to Kenya.
“Boni Mwaitege is good, he just came back from a trip to Kenya, he’s fine and relaxing,” she said. “Boni Mwaitege ni mzima kabisa ametoka safari kutoka Kenya na amefika nyumbani salama, amepumzika.”
Other artists attested to Mwaitege’s health and stated that he had not been in any accidents.
The rumors circulating on social media that Boni Mwaitege had passed away are untrue. Boni Mwaitege is not dead; in fact, he is in wonderful health. I am asking you to assist in promoting the wonderful news that God’s servant Boni Mwaitege is still alive and well. I spoke with him on the phone, and we said our hellos. It’s untrue what they say about his being dead. He has no intention of passing away at this time and was not involved in any accidents, according to Tanzania’s head of gospel music.
