UEFA has initiated an investigation into the Euro 2024 celebrations involving Morata and Rodri

UEFA has initiated disciplinary proceedings against Alvaro Morata and Rodri, two Spanish players, for their conduct during a Euro 2024 presentation in Madrid earlier this month, as confirmed by European soccer’s governing body on Tuesday.

The players proudly chanted “Gibraltar is Spanish” on July 15, the day after their triumphant victory over England in Berlin, during a lively public celebration in the Spanish capital. Gibraltar is a British territory situated at the southern tip of Spain.

Gibraltar’s Football Association lodged a formal complaint with UEFA regarding the chant, prompting UEFA to assign an ethics and disciplinary inspector to assess its compliance with regulations.

Rodri and Morata are facing charges for their alleged violations of various rules and principles, including conduct, the use of sporting events for non-sporting purposes, and bringing the sport of football into disrepute.
