Snoop Dogg is one of the torchbearers for the last leg of the Olympic flame in Paris in 2024

One of the torchbearers in the last leg leading up to the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024 will be Snoop Dogg.

Snoop Dogg, an American rapper, will carry a torch in the last moments leading up to Friday’s Olympic opening ceremony in Paris 2024.

The 52-year-old performer will lead the torch through Saint-Denis, the impoverished northern Paris area that is home to the Olympic Stadium, the Stade de France.

On social networking platform X, the mayor of the town, Mathieu Hanotin, verified the report and wrote, “Saint Denis: last step before the Eiffel Tower.” A global cast, including @SnoopDogg, for the final lap of the Olympic Flame.

In the sports world, Snoop Dogg is well-known for his Snoop Youth Football League, whose championship game is known as the “Snooper Bowl.” Dogg is contributing to NBC’s coverage of the Games.

On Friday, French rapper MC Solaar and actress Laetitia Casta will also carry torchbearers in Saint-Denis. Less than a dozen people are aware of the identity of the last bearer, who will light the Olympic cauldron during the opening ceremony, making them one of sport’s best-kept secrets.

The president of the Paris 2024 organizing committee, Tony Estanguet, disclosed on Sunday that the cauldron lighter is still unaware of their choices. Among the contenders are soccer sensation Zinedine Zidane, who helped France win the European Cup in 2000 as well as the World Cup in 1998, and Marie-José Pérec, a three-time gold medallist in track and field who is generally considered to be France’s greatest Olympian.
