Aussems hopes that Singida Black Stars will compete with Simba SC and Yanga SC

Before the 2024–2025 season, Belgian coach Patrick Aussems gave an interview about why he chose to become head coach of the Singida Black Stars.

After arriving in Tanzania the day before, the former Simba CEO was formally introduced to the media on Tuesday. The Belgian and the Singida-based team inked a contract that is reportedly for two years.

After he signed the deal, he spoke. “I’m thrilled to be here. To be honest, I recognize a couple faces from when I was a few years older. I’m glad to see you again, so that’s a positive thing. You are aware of how crucial communication is in football,” Aussems stated, as cited by the Guardian.

“The most significant thing is that I am back in Tanzania with a different, ambitious club. I wanted to let you know that I’ve been in Kenya and South Africa since I left.I made the decision to take a year-long sabbatical when I left Kenya last year because priorities in life sometimes change.

“I was not interested in the offers that I had.” The boss kept phoning and urging that I answer, even though I had previously been in contact with him for two years. To be honest, the club’s project drew me in.

“The boss is ambitious, which is why I am here for Singida Black Stars right now.” Both the staff and I have high goals. Our goal is for Singida Black Stars to become a significant national team.

For instance, while discussing Tanzania in Europe, people often bring up Simba. Occasionally, a brief mention of Yanga as well. In a few years, I hope people will claim that Simba, Yanga, and Singida Black Stars are in Tanzania. That’s the objective. I’m here because this is a really interesting project,” he stated.
