An Israeli soldier was stabbed to death at a mall

Wednesday’s stabbing in an Israeli mall left one soldier dead and another injured. According to officials, the incident was likely a terror act.

The suspected attacker, who was slain in the attack, was identified by Israel’s Ynet news site as Joud Rabia from Nahaf, a town home to members of Israel’s Arab minority.

Although the extremist group Palestinian Islamic Jihad called the bombing a “heroic operation” in a post on the Telegram platform, no group took responsibility for it.

Images captured by closed-circuit television from inside the mall in Karmiel, northern Israel, showed two guys casually strolling around the building while wearing Israeli military uniforms and carrying pistols at their sides.

A man in a blue T-shirt was seen racing up from behind the two men in the CCTV footage, stabbing one of them in the neck region, and then stabbing the other man. The footage was carried by Israel’s Channel 12 TV station.

According to the photos, the victim of the stabbing first pointed his automatic gun at the escaping man before placing his palm over a wound on his neck.

In a statement, the Israeli defense ministry named the victim of the stabbing as 19-year-old Israeli military sergeant Aleksandr Iakiminskyi. Medical personnel declared him deceased at the hospital. According to them, the other victim’s wounds were being attended to.

Israel is waging a military onslaught in Gaza as payback for the attack on southern Israel on October 7 that was spearheaded by Hamas.

Already on the rise before to the Gaza War, violence in the Israeli-occupied West Bank has increased due to increased Israeli military operations, settler violence, and Palestinian street attacks.
A Palestinian automobile ramming attack in central Israel in January claimed one woman’s life and wounded twelve others.
