According to the Multinational Joint Task Force, at least 70 terrorists were slain in the Lake Chad Basin by an aerial bombardment.

According to the Multinational Joint Task Force, at least 70 terrorists were killed in the Lake Chad Basin by the airstrike that its Operation Lake Sanity II air component carried out on Monday.

According to the MNJTF, the well-coordinated airstrikes destroyed terrorist camps located on islets in the Nigerian and Cameroonian parts of Lake Chad, forcing other terrorists to escape into Chad.

Eight vehicle-borne IEDs in Arinna Ciki and two ammunition bunkers northeast of Malam Fatori were also destroyed as a result of the operation, according to a statement from Lt. Col. Abubakar Abdullahi, Chief Military Public Information Officer, HQ MNJTF Ndjamena, Chad.

According to Abdullahi, Sector 2 dealt a deadly blow to the terrorists who were fleeing, acting quickly and decisively with the assistance of the Chadian Rapid Intervention Force.

“This action highlighted the effectiveness of MNJTF’s operational strategies and the robust collaboration with the Chadian Armed Forces, neutralizing 70 terrorists and dismantling five camps,” he stated. The Chadian Armed Forces have provided significant cooperation and support in the battle against terrorism, for which the MNJTF is grateful. We also thank the other nations that provided troops, such as Sector 4 Niger, Operation Hadin Kai Nigeria, and Operation Emergence 4 Cameroon, for their crucial contributions to the accomplishment of Operation Lake Sanity II.

He said, “We will continue to work tirelessly with our partners to achieve and sustain this critical goal,” indicating that the MNJTF is still dedicated to fulfilling its mission of eliminating terrorism and bringing peace back to the Lake Chad Basin.
