Former Football Player Roberto Baggio Hurt During Northern Italy Home Robbery

Following an armed robbery at his northern Italian residence, former Juventus football player Roberto Baggio was admitted to the hospital.

Roberto Baggio, a former football player for AC Milan and Juventus, was hurt during an armed robbery at his northern Italian house.

The event happened at 10:00 PM local time (9:00 PM WAT), according to the local media, when the 57-year-old was forced into her Altavilla Vicentina home by a group of at least five people.

After the break-in, the retired football player was taken to an emergency room in Arzignano, where one of the criminals struck him in the forehead with a gun. There, he received sutures.

Baggio thanked everyone who sent good wishes in his first public remark since the event, adding, “Now all that remains is to overcome the fear.”

“Fortunately, the violence I experienced only resulted in a few stitches on my person, bruises, and a lot of fear,” Baggio continued.

According to Corriere della Sera, Roberto Baggio and his family were watching Italy vs. Spain at the European Championship when the violent event took place.

The head of the Veneto region, Luca Zaia, expressed optimism that Baggio would be able to move past the tragic event. He described the former football player as a Veneto region’s and regional football’s emblematic champion.
