The pay gap in Teyana Taylor’s spousal support request was revealed by her estranged husband
With his most recent court action, Iman Shumpert, the estranged husband of Teyana Taylor, is aggravating the accusations of jealousy made against him.
The once-loved power couple has been arguing about their divorce and exchanging accusations with each other. The former NBA player is now seeking to settle the salary gap between the two parties with a fairer child support agreement.
Although Teyana Taylor filed for divorce covertly in January 2023, she didn’t make her split from Iman Shumpert public until September of the same year.
Teyana Taylor Supposes to Make More Money Than Iman Shumpert
Shumpert was not happy with his child support arrangements and wants his separated wife to contribute since she is wealthier than he is, according to recent court records. When he dissected the couple’s finances, he found a sizable income disparity.
Shumpert said that Taylor’s monthly income was $47,981, but before tax deductions, he was making $93,885. By his reckoning, his divorced wife was earning almost twice as much as he was and was capable of taking on more duties.
The former athlete’s choice to come clean about the purported pay disparity reminded some of Taylor’s earlier charges. The “Wake Up Love” singer accused Shumpert of being insecure and envious of her stardom when she filed for divorce in 2023.
Taylor hinted that he thought her wealth was surprising because, as an NBA player, he made far more money than she could have ever imagined from music. Shumpert, however, did not think so, according to the docs that TMZ was able to access.
Shumpert wants to divide the medical expenses for their kids.
Shumpert, who is married to Taylor and has two children together, stated that he was content to pay Taylor $8,000 a month in child support. He was willing to pay for their “major” medical expenditures, but asked to share the expense of lesser medical procedures with his divorced wife.
During their divorce, the well-known couple has been at differences about money. Taylor claims Shumpert left her to pay for the home renovations he began three years ago.
It’s said that these modifications cost over $200K, but it wasn’t the only transgression she accused him of.
The multihyphenate celebrity filed an urgent move for contempt against Shumpert for disobeying the court’s automatic domestic standing order, according to court documents acquired by The Blast in April.
In Georgia, automatic domestic standing orders are usually granted to the divorcing parties. They are intended to safeguard the interests of both parties and stop particular behaviors, including a spouse selling marital property while the divorce is still pending.
Taylor asserts that Shumpert took more than $3.7 million out of their estate.
Shumpert allegedly disregarded the automatic domestic standing orders in the case of the well-known couple by depleting their marital estate by more than $3.7 million.
According to Taylor, he borrowed money from their accounts without telling her, and he managed to escape punishment until roughly March 7, 2024.
Shumpert provided Taylor’s staff with current statements for a few investment accounts at the time, and they saw a significant drop in some of the values when compared to the information he disclosed in October 2023.
Taylor’s attorney engaged Mike Bean, a trained divorce financial analyst, to help unravel the enigma. He purportedly learned during his investigations that Shumpert had taken out numerous loans from various marital bank accounts in 2023.
Shumpert took out a massive $3,797,944, according to Mr. Bean; sadly, that wasn’t the entire amount Taylor demanded of the former player.
Teyana Taylor accused her husband of being in arrears with taxes.
Taylor also criticized Shumpert in her lawsuit for not paying the taxes on their Miami, Florida marital property. She stated that the invoices were due on January 31, 2024, but even though he was in charge, he failed to take the necessary action.
The mother of two said Shumpert had always paid all of their properties’ real estate taxes. However, in spite of the automatic domestic standing order, he made the “unilateral decision to stop paying” all of a sudden.
Taylor begged the court to find her husband, who is no longer with her, guilty of contempt and to pay him $1,000 for each infraction. She asked to have all litigation expenses related to filing the motion, including her attorney fees, covered.
Iman Shumpert denied Abusing Taylor in Any Way
Allegations of endangerment had escalated in the divorce turmoil involving Taylor and Shumpert, according to a December report from The Blast. When the singer revealed a startling reason for her divorce, it raised questions about what had actually happened in her marriage.
While most famous people use “irreconcilable differences” as an excuse for divorcing, Taylor used “cruel treatment” as her justification. Shumpert filed a petition to have her claims dismissed because she felt that the charge was unfair.
He denied the “cruel treatment” allegations, emphasizing that Taylor had not provided evidence of how he had put her in danger while they were married. Shumpert begged the Court to substitute a “irretrievable broken bond” for her justification.
