High-paying signing after years of hardship, Ndombele departs from the Spurs

Tanguy Ndombele, a French midfielder, will depart Tottenham following the mutual termination of his contract, the Premier League team has announced.

Ndombele left Ligue 1 team Lyon in July 2019 for a then-club record 60 million euros (£53.8 million) to sign a six-year contract with Spurs. On his debut, he scored the first of his ten goals in 91 club games against Aston Villa.

Spurs announced the following in a statement: “The Club can confirm Tanguy Ndombele’s departure following the mutual termination of his contract, effective from June 30 upon the end of his current loan spell.”

After joining from Olympique Lyonnais in July 2019, the midfield player made 91 appearances for us across all competitions, scoring 10 goals. He scored on his debut against Aston Villa.

Tanguy had loan stints at Lyon, Napoli, and Galatasaray of the Turkish Süper Lig last season during his tenure here. We would like to send our warmest wishes for Tanguy’s future.

Ndombele’s contract with Spurs still had a year left, however the decision was made by both sides to terminate it on June 30. On January 9, 2022, he made his Tottenham debut in a third-round FA Cup match against Morecambe.
