Egypt’s Salah secures his fourth Liverpool Player of the Season Award

Mohamed Salah, the Egyptian international winger, has once again been recognized as Liverpool’s Men’s Player of the Season for the 2023-24 campaign. This marks the fourth time he has received this prestigious honor during his time at Anfield.

The 31-year-old emerged as the winner of a fan poll on Liverpoolfc.com, narrowly surpassing Virgil van Dijk and Alexis Mac Allister, who secured second and third place, respectively.

Salah’s incredible performance made him the top scorer for the Reds in all competitions, netting an impressive 25 goals. He also provided the highest number of assists for the team, with 13, which is on par with Darwin Nunez.

With 38 goal involvements in just 44 appearances, he played a crucial role in Liverpool’s Carabao Cup triumph and their qualification for the Champions League by securing a third-place finish in the Premier League.

Salah has made his mark in Liverpool’s history by surpassing Steven Gerrard and securing fifth place on the club’s all-time scorer list.

In December, the Egyptian achieved a significant milestone of 200 goals with a strike against Crystal Palace, placing him in the company of Liverpool legends Ian Rush, Roger Hunt, Gordon Hodgson, and Billy Liddell as a double centurion.

Despite facing an injury setback during the Africa Cup of Nations with Egypt, Salah made a triumphant return by accomplishing yet another remarkable feat. He etched his name in Liverpool’s history by becoming the first player to score 20 goals in seven consecutive seasons. Salah’s incredible performance included a goal and a hat-trick of assists in a thrilling Europa League victory over Sparta Prague at Anfield.

Salah’s impressive achievements keep growing, as he found the back of the net and provided an assist in Liverpool’s recent 4-2 victory against Tottenham Hotspur. This remarkable feat makes him the only player in Premier League history to consistently reach double figures in both goals and assists for three seasons in a row.

With previous wins of the Liverpool Player of the Season award in the 2017-18, 2020-21, and 2021-22 seasons, Salah now claims a fourth accolade, further cementing his position as one of Liverpool’s legendary players.
