Libya’s Minister of Oil and Gas Returns to Work after a Two-Month Leave of Absence

According to a brief statement from the ministry, Libya’s oil and gas minister returned to work on Tuesday following a two-month leave of absence due to a legal inquiry.

The Administrative Control Agency temporarily suspended Mohamed Oun, the minister of oil and gas in the Government of National Unity in Tripoli, in March as it looked into “the presence of legal violations.”

The ministry stated that because the investigation was over, ACA revoked the suspension on May 12.

For information on the suspension, we were unable to get in touch with the ACA almost away.

A photo of Oun at his desk going over a dossier was shared by the oil ministry along with the statement, “Has resumed his duties this morning.”

The ACA reviews government performance, and its powers include contesting appointments to public offices and promoting public accountability.
