Attorneys in the Tory Lanez case are asking for an extension of the deadline for the appeals process

Attorneys are asking for extra time to respond as Tory Lanez’s appeal gets underway.

Court documents indicating that Lanez’s attorneys filed their opening brief in his appeal were revealed by reporter Meghann Cuniff on Tuesday. The rapper from “Say It” is presently serving a ten-year term for assault with a semiautomatic weapon, carrying a loaded, unlicensed firearm inside of a car, and recklessly discharging a firearm. The accusations stem from the fact that he shot Megan Thee Stallion, a former friend, in 2020. He has continued to act innocently.

His most recent demand for a new trial serves as the foundation for his appeal argument. According to ABC News, his attorneys submitted the documents in March, claiming among other things that some of the testimony from witnesses and material used in the trial was biased. A new trial in the matter was, however, denied by the court.

To get him home, Lanez and his crew are putting in extra hours. Megan Thee Stallion, meanwhile, has been putting a lot of effort into getting past that awful night. She is currently returning from a near-hate train that followed the shooting with a sold-out tour.

Prosecutors have requested a deadline extension; a judge has not yet granted this request, but it is expected to be granted.
