Germany is allegedly using ‘hacking myths’ to undermine relations, according to Russia

On Wednesday, Russia charged that Germany was inciting tensions by spreading unfounded rumors about Russian hackers, and it warned that the recall of Berlin’s ambassador would worsen relations between the two countries.
Berlin said that Moscow had launched cyberattacks against its aerospace and defense companies as well as the ruling party, and it announced that it had called back its ambassador to Russia for talks.

According to Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, “Berlin regularly exploits the myth of malicious activity of allegedly Russian hackers in Germany; this is done to escalate tensions in bilateral relations.” “No evidence was presented.”

Berlin stated that corporations in the logistics, defense, aerospace, and IT industries were among the targets of the attacks, which began two years ago and targeted Germany’s ruling Social Democrats. It claimed that for security concerns, it had not disclosed the specifics of the harm done.

According to Zakharova, the West is fighting Russia with misleading and fabricated charges and stories in an effort to incite fear of the country.

“The recall of the German ambassador from Moscow is nothing more than another unfriendly step aimed at inciting anti-Russian sentiments in Germany, leading to further degradation of bilateral ties,” Zakharova stated.

“The entire responsibility for this lies with the German side.”
