Liga BREAKING: Amid speculations of Frenkie de Jong’s departure, Xavi offers a verdict on his future at Barcelona

Xavi Hernandez, the manager of FC Barcelona, stated that Frenkie de Jong is still a valuable member of the team despite reports that the Dutch international may depart Catalonia this summer.

There hasn’t been a transfer window in the previous two years where speculation about Frenkie de Jong’s future hasn’t been present, particularly when it comes to moving him away from Barcelona.

Nevertheless, in spite of difficulties due to injury, the 26-year-old remained a member of the Blaugranas and continues to enjoy the trust of the coach and board.

“De Jong is a vital player in my opinion. In his Valencia pre-match press conference, Xavi stated, “Nothing has changed, he’s really crucial for me.”

“Despite his unfortunate history of injuries, Frenkie has consistently performed at a high level, and I view him as an essential player,” he continued.

De Jong’s Barcelona contract expires in two years (2026) and talks to perhaps extend it have not yet begun.
