After JKT’s draw, Yanga SC loses the opportunity to go seven points ahead

After splitting the spoils with JKT Tanzania, Young Africans (Yanga SC) lost the opportunity to take a seven-point lead atop the Mainland Premier League standings.

At Major General Isamuhyo Ground in Dar es Salaam, Yanga was held to a scoreless draw. With seven games remaining in the Premier League season, Yanga maintained their position atop the standings with their 59th point after 23 games.

They are only five points ahead at the top of the standings after their second draw of the campaign. After scoring 23 points from 23 games, JKT Tanzania moved up to the 13th spot in the standings from their previous position of 15th.

The game was originally planned on Tuesday, but due to heavy rain in the city, the pitch became flooded, forcing a rescheduling to the following day. The hosts successfully completed their homework by putting up a fierce fight and trying to prevent the visitors from scoring as many points as possible.

Every time Yanga attacked, Shiza Kichuya and Sixtus Sabilo gave the defenders a hard time, even though the majority of their efforts didn’t result in anything of value for the squad.

They also had a strong defense, thanks to former Yanga full-back David Bryson, who did a good job of dispersing threats from the visitors.
