Prior to the final Merseyside derby, Jurgen Klopp confirms Liverpool’s unexpected injury blow

Before this week’s trip to Everton, Diogo Jota suffered an injury that will keep him out of action for approximately two weeks, according to Jurgen Klopp. On Wednesday, the Reds manager will play in his last Merseyside derby as Liverpool visits Goodison Park looking to pick up three crucial points.

As a result of sustaining a fresh injury, Jota is not available for selection, thus Liverpool will have to make do without him. Although he scored in Sunday’s victory over Fulham, the 27-year-old will not play against Everton and is anticipated to be sidelined for about two weeks.

When asked if Liverpool’s roster had any fresh injury concerns, Klopp replied, “Unfortunately, yes.” Diogo will be gone for around two weeks after feeling a little bit—and now we know it’s a little bit more. To be honest, I can’t really talk about it much.

“He felt a small bump to his hip, but other than that, he was good. It was a little one, which is why I mentioned two weeks, but he appeared OK when he started the most recent game. Not a wonderful moment because we are late in the season. It isn’t a good one; not much, but enough to make it unavailable. That concludes it.

Jota has tallied ten goals in the league this year, and his impressive play has kept Liverpool competitive with Manchester City and Arsenal for the Premier League title. The Reds’ absence against Everton will be a huge loss, but it looks like he’ll be fit to play again before the season ends.

In addition, Klopp was questioned about his pre-game reflections before his final Merseyside derby before he departs Anfield in the summer. The past 12 derbies at Goodison Park have resulted in draws nine times, but the Liverpool manager was eager to state that Wednesday’s match will be decided by history.
