Mandisa, a former competitor on “American Idol” and Grammy winner, passes away at the age of 47

According to numerous publications, Mandisa, a Christian music singer and former “American Idol” contestant, passed away.

According to WZTV, the Grammy winner passed away on April 18 at her Nashville, Tennessee, home. Her age was 47.

The report was verified by the singer’s crew on Friday, April 19.

“We can confirm that Mandisa was found deceased in her home yesterday,” her team posted on Twitter’s former home, X. We are currently unaware of the cause of death or any further information. According to People, Mandisa tried out for “American Idol” in 2005 and placed in the top 10 before being kicked off the show. Favorites like Chris Daughtry, Elliott Yamin, and Katharine McPhee made appearances with her.

She took home the Best Contemporary Christian Music Album Grammy in 2014.

According to Christian radio network K-LOVE, the California native began her career as a member of the Fisk Jubilee Singers while enrolled at Fisk University in Nashville.

Over the course of her career, the station stated, she released five albums including a Christmas LP. “Good Morning,” “Overcomer,” and “Stronger” are some of her greatest hits.
