Afrobeats Artist Davido Releases More Than Nine Records With UnitedMasters

With his new alliance with UnitedMasters, Davido hopes to reach a wider audience outside of the Afrobeats genre.

Davido, the rising star of Nigerian music, has joined up with UnitedMasters, a US distribution organization, to introduce Nine+ Records, a new facet of the music industry.

In an exclusive interview with Billboard, Davido stated his desire to use Nine+ Records to break past the boundaries of Afrobeats and draw in a global audience. He cited his commitment to supporting up-and-coming talent and tackling the difficulties encountered by young artists as the main driving forces behind this project.

R&B and trap are only two of the many genres that Davido wants to include in Nine+ Records. His main goal is to develop talent in Africa and maybe even beyond.

Although the company has not yet unveiled any artists, UnitedMasters CEO Steve Stoute disclosed that Nine+ Records was inspired by a relationship he had with Davido at the 2023 UnitedMasters SelectCon.

Stoute emphasized his dedication to aiding Davido and the label in their future endeavors, hoping to offer both financial and organizational support to ease their artistic path.

With this latest endeavor, Davido—who previously founded DMW in April 2016 and subsequently relaunched it as DMW 2.0—continues to firmly cement his presence in the music industry while demonstrating his commitment to creativity and talent development.
