The President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan is saddened by some leaders who do not recognize the responsibilities they have who use their positions to bring conflict instead of bringing harmony between the Government and society.

President Samia said this, while speaking at the 40th Anniversary of the death of the late Edward Moringe Sokoine, urging leaders to follow the example of late Sokoine as he condemned the matter in words and actions.

He said, Hayati Sokoine used his high will to strengthen relations between the Government and the community he led and represented the Maasai community well.

President Samia has asked current and future leaders to realize that if a decision is made within the Government, it is their duty to implement the decision as it was reached even if they have to be an example to others like Hayati Sokoine did.

Regarding the importance of education as prioritized by Hayati Sokoine, President Samia has called on parents to make the most of the opportunity of the good education infrastructure built by the Government to send their children to school.

In addition, he has called on the Minister of State, Office of the President, Public Service Management and Good Governance, to continue to preserve the memories of national leaders and ensure that their information reaches more young people through modern means.

President Samia has also used the opportunity to apologize to all the victims of the floods and promised that the Government will continue to do everything possible to avoid further harm and to also ask the citizens to listen to the precautionary instructions given.

President Samia has also said that after the rains and normal conditions return, the Government will carry out a detailed investigation to determine the causes of the floods in order to avoid serious consequences in the future.
