Inkoom Warns: Don’t Pull Andre Ayew Out Of Black Stars

Samuel Inkoom, a former Ghana international, maintains that Andre Ayew is necessary to serve as a role model for the younger members of the Black Stars team.

Calls have been made for Ayew, who turns 35 in December, to be removed off the Ghanaian national team because some supporters of the Black Stars think he is past his prime.

But Inkoom, who competed for Ghana and won silver medals in the Africa Cup of Nations finals in 2010 and 2015, has supported Ayew and other key members of Otto Addo’s team.

“I think a team needs both young people and experienced members because the latter cannot just appear out of nowhere. As Inkoom stated on Ghana Soccer Net, “You should have an experienced member of the team who can inspire and motivate them.”

“I don’t think we need to remove the team’s senior players right now. I think that’s how a team should be, so they have to be part of it, give the younger players confidence, and say a lot of positive things,” the 34-year-old former right-back continued.

Andre Ayew, who plays professionally for Le Havre in France, was a member of the Black Stars team that was tied with Uganda and defeated Nigeria in their last meeting.
