According to Florida authorities, a woman shoots drivers on interstates, claiming that the eclipse inspired her to do so

Florida’s Bonifay — The Florida Highway Patrol reports that a lady who had checked out of a motel in Florida told the staff she was going on a shooting spree, instructed by God, because of the solar eclipse. She then shot two drivers on Interstate 10 before being taken into custody and charged with attempted murder on Monday.

22-year-old Georgian Taylon Nichelle Celestine entered the highway on the Florida Panhandle and headed west, 115 miles (180 kilometers) from the border with Alabama. She fired multiple shots at a passing automobile within five miles (8 kilometers), grazing the driver’s arm and spraying auto glass, according to a statement from the department.

After that, she opened fire on another car, striking the driver in the neck. Hospital treatment was provided for the driver’s injuries.

After the woman drove for about 16 miles (26 kilometers), troopers stopped her and discovered that she was carrying a 9mm handgun and an AR-15 rifle. After being detained, she was admitted to the Holmes County jail. She was accused of attempted murder, improper firearm discharge, and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

There was no information provided by the Florida Highway Patrol regarding Celestine’s bail or attorney.
