“I want a passport in 7 days”, Regional Commissioner Paul Makonda – Tanzania

The Regional Immigration Commissioner has been directed by Arusha Regional Commissioner Paul Makonda to guarantee that passport applicants receive their documents in 7 days, as opposed to 14 days or longer.

After being welcomed to the Arusha Region on April 8, 2024, Makonda made the following statement: “How long are you providing passports here in Arusha?, how much time do you need? Why is it 14 days? We seek seven days in this tourist town; please provide your infrastructure in that time. In Arusha, people obtain passports; eeh, let’s move quickly.”

“What role does Boda Namanga play here? Tell him to go faster when people are crossing the street; a person shouldn’t have to wait three hours, at most, to get stamped. Instead, they should just wait 60 minutes.”

“We have a relationship with the immigration officer at KIA Airport, to the extent that when a visitor enters the country with his passport after receiving a phone card, we ask whether you scan your passport when we travel to the People’s Countries.” When the immigration official hands you a phone card, you put it into your phone, affix a band, and head out. Next, we’ll chain you a phone card so you may think about getting pregnant and giving birth.”

“Let’s go fast, President Samia has made this a tourist town so let’s get to the point when the tourist comes to say waooh” .
