Zanzibar: Twelve people were arrested by the police for having lunch during Ramadhan

Police officers in the Zanzibar islands have announced the arrest of twelve people on suspicion of violating the order of the Islamic religion by eating lunch in public during the holy month of Ramadhan.

Giving a statement to the press, Acting Police Commander for the West Urban Region of Unguja, Assistant Commissioner of Police ACP Abubakar Khamis Ally, said following a video that went viral on the internet showing some people in the area of ​​a coconut plantation in Zanzibar eating in public during the afternoon of Ramadan, the Army conducted a search and arrested about twelve people with evidence where he said they are continuing with other procedures to bring them to Court.

In addition, he has mentioned other crimes including embezzlement, drugs, and other crimes where the Police hold the accused, and some have already been tried in Court.
