148th IPU Assembly In Geneva

President of the World Parliamentary Union (IPU) and Speaker of the Parliament of the United Republic of Tanzania, Hon. Dr. Tulia Ackson, has officially opened the 148th General Assembly of the International Parliamentary Union (IPU) held at the International Conference Center of CICG, Geneva in Switzerland today on March 24, 2024.

The meeting is expected to discuss the Main Role which is “The Use of Parliamentary Diplomacy in bringing Peace and Harmony to the World”. The meeting has been attended by 48 Speakers of Parliament and more than 1,500 participants and is expected to conclude on March 27, 2024.

This is his first meeting to open since he was elected President of IPU in the Election held on October 27, 2023, in Angola.
