This Mathias Mpuuga Scandal is one of a kind that will either make or shake NUP forever. Bobi Wine as a person should stand firm and have Hon Mpuuga brought to “justice”. If not, then it is going to be really hard for Mr. Kyagulanyi to hold other leaders accountable for their actions.

You see, Mr. Mpuuga is a Deputy President. It is like the Vice president standing up against his Boss. And that is what honorable did yesterday in his official statement. He distanced himself from all the allegations, calling them baseless and misleading. In fact, he accused those behind the news as paid agents with a smear campaign against him. By this he was trying to say that Bobi Wine is a liar and that everything he said was false. He even said that the letter that was circulating was fake, yet we saw Mr. Kyagulanyi speak live on TV. And not just him but Mr. Senyonyi too.

One other aspect to this whole matter is Mr. Mpuuga said as I quote, I commit that, I’ll not be deterred by small-group- family interests being peddled to blur the bigger picture of how the Party is being managed without transparency, and the general mistreatment of other leaders in the party.

With these statements, he wanted to ride on the fact that NUP has for an exceptionally long time been accused of being managed by family members and associates close to Bobi Wine. Which apparently is not true but that is a discussion for another day…

Whatever the case, wouldn’t it be just fair for him to apologize and take responsibility for his actions??? Because in simple logic, even if there were laws that facilitated this process of self-awarding, Ugandans would still be mad that while we struggle with poor health care, poor roads among others, few people are benefiting.
