Kelvin Joseph Jr., a former Cowboys star, was arrested for DUI following a fatal motorcycle accident
Former Dallas Cowboys player Kelvin Joseph Jr., who is currently playing in the UFL, is in hot water with the law after he was accused of driving under the influence in a collision that claimed the life of a motorcyclist.
Following a tragic crash on US-75 in the Dallas suburb, the 25-year-old cornerback for the D.C. Defenders was taken into custody early on Saturday morning, June 7, according to the Richardson Police Department. When authorities arrived on the site at approximately 4:50 a.m., they found that a biker, later identified as Plano, Texas resident 27-year-old Cody Morris, had passed away.
Joseph called Plano Police, according to the police, and acknowledged his role in the collision.
“After contacting Joseph, officers from the Richardson Police Department discovered that he was traveling north on the North Central Expressway in a BMW sedan when he collided with the motorcycle,” officials stated. During their conversation with Joseph, the cops noticed indications of intoxication.
After being arrested around 7:45 a.m., Joseph was charged with felony collision involving death and misdemeanor driving while intoxicated. According to jail records, no bond has been set for him.
After the Cowboys selected the cornerback in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft, he played with Dallas until 2023 and then bounced around with the Dolphins, Seahawks, Colts, Chiefs, and Vikings.
Joseph has had previous run-ins with the law. He was not suspended by the NFL in 2022 despite being a passenger in a car connected to a deadly incident.
The St. Louis Battlehawks and the D.C. Defenders will square off in the UFL conference championship on Sunday.
