Trump Considers Further Sanctions Against Russia, Saying Putin Has “Gone Absolutely Crazy”

President Trump has criticized Putin’s recent actions and hinted that, as tensions across the world rise, further penalties may be imposed.

US President Donald Trump hinted that he would impose additional penalties on Russia after declaring on Sunday that Russian President Vladimir Putin had “gone absolutely CRAZY” in response to Moscow’s biggest aerial attack of the conflict on Ukraine. But Trump also attacked Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, denouncing his actions throughout the crisis.

He has experienced some sort of incident. He has gone completely insane! Regarding Putin, Trump posted on Truth Social. “He wants ALL of Ukraine, not just a piece of it, and maybe that’s turning out to be true, but if he does, it will lead to Russia’s downfall,” I’ve always said.

While denouncing Putin’s behavior, Trump also chastised Zelensky for allegedly inflaming tensions with his remarks. “He is not doing his country any favors by speaking in such a manner. Trump wrote, “I don’t like it, and it better stop. Everything he says causes problems.”

Trump said of the Russian leader, “I don’t know what’s wrong with him,” while addressing reporters in Morristown, New Jersey. How in the hell did he end up? Yes? Many are being killed by him. I’m not pleased with that. The United States, he said, was thinking of imposing more sanctions on Moscow in reaction to the growing bloodshed.

Trump’s remarks elicited no immediate response from Zelensky’s office or the Kremlin.

Trump’s comments followed a major overnight aerial onslaught by Russia that targeted Ukrainian cities and infrastructure with at least 367 drones and missiles. Ukrainian officials report that at least 12 civilians, including three children, were killed in the strike in the northern Zhytomyr district. It was the most weapon-heavy strike since the start of the war.

The battle has escalated despite Trump’s repeated calls for a diplomatic solution, with both sides using swarms of drones across the front lines and Russian military advancing in eastern Ukraine. Despite international powers’ diplomatic efforts, the conflict is still getting worse and there is no end in sight.
