At Trump’s crypto party, Lamar Odom was booed for promoting $ODOM

When pursuing his cryptocurrency goals at a high-profile event, the former NBA player faced criticism.

When Lamar Odom entered the crypto world, he received a lot of negative feedback. A audience that wasn’t impressed with his new endeavor jeered the former NBA champion when he unexpectedly showed up to Donald Trump’s private crypto event.

The $TRUMP meme coin and its backers were celebrated during the event, which took place at the Trump National Golf Club in Virginia. However, Odom has his own plans, including the introduction of $ODOM, his own meme coin that he claims captures his path of “sobriety, discipline, and rebirth.”

Odom exaggerated his coin in a post on X, referring to it as “the most soulful meme coin” and even praised Trump for “supporting the meme philosophy.” He went on to say that he would not touch any founder tokens until $ODOM had a market valuation of $1.5 billion. These were bold assertions, but the crowd didn’t believe them.

“Shame” was screamed by protesters outside the banquet, referring to both Trump and the entire cryptocurrency farce. Critics referred to it as a tone-deaf demonstration of political power, celebrity, and money. Others drew attention to the role of foreign investors and the moral ambiguities of combining digital currency with presidential politics.

Even though Odom used catchphrases like “burn + buyback” dynamics and references to the U.S. Treasury’s stablecoin scheme in his pitch, the crowd still rejected him.

The Solana blockchain serves as the foundation for $ODOM, which is marketed as Lamar’s message rather than merely a meme. However, only time will tell whether the cryptocurrency community is prepared to accept it or if Odom’s most recent chapter will be remembered for the booing rather than the blockchain after such a rough launch.
