Rod Wave is arrested in Georgia on charges of assault and gun possession

The rapper was freed on a $50,000 bond after being charged with pointing a gun at someone else.

After he was allegedly discovered in possession of a gun and allegedly pointed it at someone else during a fight in Georgia, Rod Wave was taken into custody.

The top-charting rapper, who is renowned for fusing honest narrative with soulful songs, was taken into custody on Tuesday, May 20, and charged with aggravated assault and handgun possession.

An alleged confrontation that occurred on April 21 is the reason for the arrest.

The 25-year-old musician, whose real name is Rodarius Green, is being charged with 12 further offenses, according to Billboard.

These include reckless behavior, criminal damage to property, pointing a gun at someone else, obstructing law enforcement, tampering with evidence, conspiracy to commit a felony, and simple assault. Green posted a $50,000 bond and was freed that same day, despite the seriousness of the charges.

Green’s defense team is adamantly disputing the accusations. “These accusations are untrue,” Green’s lawyer Drew Findling told Billboard.

“Rod Green did not conduct any crimes; he was a victim of a burglary. It seems inexplicable that he was ever charged in this case. This will undoubtedly be settled in Mr. Green’s favor.

Green has had previous legal run-ins with weapons. He was taken into custody in Manatee County, Florida, in April 2024 on suspicion of unlawfully possessing a firearm or ammunition. However, after authorities found that he had been “detained based on inaccurate information,” that case was promptly withdrawn.

Green’s team is still optimistic that the present accusations will be dismissed and his name cleared while fans wait for additional information.
