Cassie Ventura Sobs in Court and Offers to Refund a $20 Million Settlement to End Diddy’s Abuse
Cassie Ventura has denied allegations of financial motivations and stated that she would refund the $20 million settlement that Diddy paid to eradicate the alleged abuse.
Cassie Ventura has stated in a New York court that she would return the $20 million settlement that Sean “Diddy” Combs paid if doing so would allow her to undo years of alleged abuse, including what she called “humiliating” drug-fueled sex parties that the rapper planned.
Ventura, the lead witness in Combs’ well-publicized criminal trial, broke down in tears as she refuted the defense’s assertions that her charges were motivated by bias. Recalling the toll a ten-year relationship placed on her job and mental health, she sobbed as she added, “I would have agency and autonomy.”
Rapper and recording mogul, 55, is accused of sex trafficking, racketeering, and prostitution-related transportation. Despite his not guilty plea, he faces a life sentence if found guilty.
Ventura, 38, claimed throughout four days of vivid and terrifying testimony that she was forced to participate in longer sex sessions with escorts under threat of violence, which were referred to as “freak-offs.” She talked about how she had been physically abused and how some sessions had left her hurt and devastated.
By highlighting text texts that indicated a complex but mutually agreeable relationship, the defense team attempted to discredit her. Anna Estevao, Combs’ attorney, stated that Ventura had recently moved in with her parents and that she filed her 2023 case out of financial desperation.
Ventura adamantly refuted this. “If it meant I never had to go through that, I would give it all back,” she added, referring to the $20 million settlement that was paid out just one day after the complaint was filed.
A separate $10 million settlement from InterContinental Hotels regarding a 2016 incident involving Combs is also anticipated by Ventura, the court was informed. CCTV footage, a crucial piece of evidence in the case, shows the rapper physically abusing Ventura in a hallway. It was shown in court earlier this week.
Following the assault, Ventura wrote to Combs, “I’m not a rag doll.” I am a person’s child. Days later, the pair sent one other messages declaring their love for one another. Combs’ legal team has used these conversations to show that the relationship was imperfect but not illegal.
Singer Dawn Richard, a former member of Danity Kane, also testified before the jury on Friday, claiming to have seen Combs beat Ventura in his Los Angeles residence in 2009. According to Richard, Combs warned her later that “people go missing” if they talk, and that she was in the fetal position.
In her testimony, Yasin Binda, a Homeland Security special agent, attested to the fact that Combs’ hotel suite included cocaine, a sizable sum of money, and baby oil when he was arrested in New York.
In an attempt to catch a glimpse of the troubled music mogul or the parade of celebrities called to testify, throngs have been gathering outside the Manhattan courthouse every day as the case has garnered national attention.
The trial is scheduled to resume next week, and prosecutors are anticipated to continue calling witnesses.
