The UK will buy $10 billion worth of Boeing aircraft under a new trade agreement with the US

The United Kingdom has announced plans to purchase $10 billion worth of Boeing aircraft as a component of a new trade agreement with the United States.

The United Kingdom plans to acquire Boeing aircraft valued at $10 billion under a new bilateral trade agreement with the United States.

On Thursday, US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick made the announcement at the White House.

While the details of the purchase are not fully disclosed, Lutnick mentioned that the agreement is a private-sector transaction. “The airline responsible for the purchase will announce the details,” he stated.

The White House published a graphic detailing the key terms of the agreement, mentioning $10 billion in purchases of “aircraft parts.” Nevertheless, it did not provide further details regarding the specific type of aircraft involved.

The specifics regarding the types of planes included in the deal remain unclear, as does whether the agreement consists of firm orders or merely options. Boeing did not provide an immediate comment regarding the development.

Virgin Atlantic, operating Boeing aircraft, made it clear that it was not involved in the deal. British Airways, recognized for its operation of various Boeing widebody jets in its fleet, has yet to provide a response to requests for comment.

The announcement positively influenced Boeing’s stock, resulting in a rise of approximately 3.1% during midday trading.
