
World Leaders Call for Moderation as India-Pakistan Conflicts Raise the Risk of Full-Scale War
India and Pakistan’s deadly strikes have raised concerns about regional and nuclear stability, prompting world powers to plead for calm.
India’s “Operation Sindoor” has sparked intense worldwide reactions when Islamabad sharply reacted to strikes on suspected terrorist installations in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir, calling the attacks “an act of war.”
The nighttime violence is said to have killed at least 26 persons in Pakistan and 10 in Indian-administered Kashmir.
China criticized India’s military activities and urged both countries to put peace first. While urging moderation and the avoidance of further escalation, the Foreign Ministry declared, “China opposes all forms of terrorism.”
While acknowledging India’s right to self-defense, France encouraged both nations to prevent escalation and safeguard people. “It goes without saying that we urge both India and Pakistan to hold back,” stated Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot.
Iran expressed grave concern about the situation. Iran hoped both countries would de-escalate and exercise restraint, according to Esmail Baghaei, the spokeswoman for the Foreign Ministry.
India’s viewpoint was supported by Israel. “Israel supports India’s right to self-defense,” Ambassador Reuven Azar wrote on social media. There is nowhere for terrorists to hide.
Japan encouraged both nations to refrain from escalating their conflict and denounced the terrorist assault in Kashmir on April 22. According to Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshimasa Hayashi, discussion is necessary to stabilize the situation.
Qatar emphasized the significance of maintaining open lines of communication and demanded that the problem be resolved diplomatically.
Russia reiterated its opposition to terrorism, stating that it was “deeply concerned” about the situation and urged others to exercise moderation.
In addition to supporting Pakistan’s demand for a probe into the April 22 strike, Turkey issued a warning that India’s military moves could lead to “all-out war.”
The United Arab Emirates demanded diplomacy and composure. The greatest way to achieve peace is still via conversation, Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed reaffirmed.
“The world cannot afford a military confrontation between India and Pakistan,” said UN Secretary-General António Guterres, who also called for “maximum military restraint.”
In order to find a quick, diplomatic solution, the UK is “urging India and Pakistan to show restraint and engage in direct dialogue,” according to UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy.
“They have been fighting for many, many decades,” said U.S. President Donald Trump in a quick response. I’m hoping it ends shortly.
Senator Marco Rubio wrote: “I’m keeping an eye on everything. and will keep working with Pakistani and Indian leaders to find a peaceful solution.
The two nuclear-armed neighbors are trading political and military blows, keeping the world community on edge.
