Yammi’s Adventure with Nandy’s African Princess Comes to an End After Two Years

The management of Nandy’s stated that a “amicable and mutually beneficial agreement” was reached by all parties involved in the contract termination.

Despite Nandy’s explicit declaration that the label will solely sign female performers, oddly, Yammi was the only artist signed to the label.

Nandy verified that the contract between African Princess and Yammi, whose true name is Yasirun Yasin Shaban, has ended in a message posted on her Instagram page.

“Going forward, there will be no commercial relationship between the two parties,” she said.

African Princess Records said in part of the statement, “We would like to formally notify all music stakeholders, media representatives, and fans that our beloved artist, Yammi, has officially concluded her management contract with our label.”

The management of Nandy’s maintained that the contract was terminated due to a “amicable and mutually beneficial agreement.”

The label took delight in Yammi’s development while working with them, emphasizing how they helped her develop her music career and earn her industry reputation.

Yammi’s incredible talent throughout her tenure with African Princess Records drew admirers from all around the world. Hit songs, live performances, and her continuous ascent in the contemporary music industry were the main factors in her success, the statement continued.

In early 2023, Nandy founded African Princess with the goal of supporting and guiding female musicians, realizing the particular difficulties they have in a male-dominated field.

She said at the time that the label would only sign female artists.

“I’m pleased to formally introduce to you The African Princess label, which will mostly sign female musicians. At the label’s inauguration, Nandy declared, “We think this platform will greatly nurture the dreams of aspiring female musicians.”

Yammi has been the only musician signed to the label since its founding, notwithstanding the initial idea. Nandy reaffirmed her dedication to that purpose in her most recent message, expressing hope for the future.

“African Princess Record Label can now onboard new talent, continue to invest in up-and-coming female artists, and further contribute to the growth of the music industry thanks to Yamami’s departure.”

Assuring fans that her legacy with the label will not be forgotten, she ended by wishing Yammi well.

“We hope Yammi has the best possible start to her new musical career. Her achievements will always be a part of our common history, and she will always be a member of the African Princess family.

Nandy, who joined a limited group of artists-turned-entrepreneurs including Diamond Platnumz, Harmonize, Rayvanny, Alikiba, Sauti Sol, and King Kaka, is still the only female artist in East Africa to operate a record company.
