Pep Guardiola has stated that he will take a break from managing after Man City, although he has not made a decision regarding his retirement or departure date.

Pep Guardiola, manager of Manchester City, has stated that he will take a vacation from football management after his tenure at the club ends, but he has not yet specified the exact date.

With a two-year contract extension in November 2022 that keeps him at the Etihad until June 2027, the Spaniard has presided over a pivotal and trophy-filled chapter in the club’s history. Guardiola would be in control for 11 years by the end of that contract, which is more time than he spent at any of his prior clubs, Barcelona or Bayern Munich.

“I’m going to stop after my contract with City. “Yes,” Guardiola said to ESPN. “While I’m not sure if I’ll retire, I’m going to take a vacation.”

Guardiola clarified his comments in a subsequent interview with Sky Sports, saying: “I didn’t say I’m leaving now or at the end of the season or the end of the contract.” “I will take a break when I finish my time here, whether it be one, two, three, four, or five years.”

In nine seasons under his direction, Manchester City has won six Premier League titles, including a historic Treble in 2022–2023 that included the team’s first-ever UEFA Champions League victory.

Regarding his legacy, Guardiola stated: “I’m not sure how I want to be remembered. Any way they choose to remember me is what I desire. The supporters of City, Bayern Munich, and Barcelona, in my opinion, enjoyed watching my teams play.

He went on to say: “Our families grieve for two or three days after we pass away, and then that’s it—you’re forgotten.” The crucial factor is that effective coaches are retained for a longer period of time.
