Attorney Says Video Will Not Be Shared As Sharpe’s Sexual Assault Case Proceeds

The attorney for the woman suing Shannon Sharpe for sexual assault claims that a video purportedly showing the two having sex is essential evidence for the case and will not be made public.

TMZ Sports was informed by attorney Tony Buzbee, who represents the accuser under the alias “Jane Doe,” that they do not intend to release the video. Only because Sharpe himself brought up the video in a public remark does Buzbee claim that anyone is aware of its existence. Sharpe was given several opportunities to see the entire film, but he refused, according to Buzbee, who claims the recording was shared during private mediation talks.

Only a few days after the lawsuit was filed, Sharpe publicly addressed the video, calling it a poorly edited 30-second clip that was intended to make him appear guilty. “It should be closer to 10 minutes long,” he said, challenging Buzbee to reveal the entire, unedited recording.

The lawsuit, which was filed earlier this month, alleges that the former NFL player repeatedly raped Jane Doe close to the end of their nearly two-year romance. She is requesting $50 million in compensation. Calling the lawsuit a “shakedown” attempt, Sharpe and his legal team have vehemently refuted the allegations.

In the wake of the lawsuit, Sharpe has resigned from his position at ESPN and promised to fight against what he calls “false and disruptive allegations.”
